I can’t remember what made me first decide to try EveryPlate but — spoiler alert — the rest is history. It is my most frequently re-ordered meal kit and my go-to when I’m interested in learning how to cook a new dish, try a new ingredient, or test out a new technique.
I’ll walk you through all the important details in my EveryPlate review.

Meal delivery kits and how EveryPlate works
EveryPlate is one of many meal kit delivery services like HelloFresh and Blue Apron. It is specifically known to be one of the more affordable meal kit options on the market.
As with the other typical meal kit companies, you subscribe to a weekly delivery plan (weeks can be skipped) and are charged based on the number of meals (servings) you want to order for a set number of people.
For example, if I wanted to order three meals per week for two people (or servings), I could expect it to cost about $50 (including shipping) before any EveryPlate promo codes.

You pick a delivery day and your box is delivered on the same day each week. If you sign up for recurring deliveries, you’ll have the opportunity to customize your meal choices across a menu of offerings. If you don’t make a choice, EveryPlate will pick meals for you.
My advice: download the mobile app and enable notifications to simplify the process of choosing your weekly meals.
What to expect from EveryPlate meals
There is nothing especially novel about the recipe selection offered by EveryPlate. Instead, the focus is on helping subscribers cook no-fuss but flavorful meals for their families, creating efficiencies throughout the process.
EveryPlate meals are well-balanced, each typically including a protein, vegetable, and carb. While I wouldn’t label EveryPlate meals as “health food”, they’re uncomplicated ingredient-wise and not decadent in nature. I find them to be quite satisfying.
How easy are EveryPlate meal kits to cook?
Following EveryPlate’s recipe cards is straightforward enough for home chefs of all levels.
You’ll want to have access to more than just the most basic kitchen tools. If you have a few specialty kitchen items, like a microplaner, you probably have everything you need.
Who is the ideal EveryPlate customer?
Let me explain by answering another question first.
If you have experience with a meal kit service like Hungryroot or Factor, you may be wondering — are EveryPlate meals already cooked?
In my experience, no.
Technically, they offer some pre-made components in the “Featured Add-ons” section, which is located under the selected week’s menu options.

But the reason I have such a favorable EveryPlate review lies in the delightful and straightforward recipes it has taught me. I can recreate and savor them outside of ordering the meal kit because they are simple to in terms of both steps and ingredients.
So who is EveryPlate good for?
Based on my experience and the ever-changing menu designs, EveryPlate is ideal for busy people who appreciate help with meal planning and enjoy cooking a variety of recipes.
The straightforward customization options and variety of meals also make it ideal for effectively serving different needs. There are options for picky eaters, those with dietary restrictions like food allergies, and those with meal preferences like vegetarian options.
EveryPlate pricing
So what’s the catch? Why does EveryPlate cost less than other meal kits?
Per EveryPlate, “We use less packaging and simple ingredients for delicious, filling meals that are easily doable.”
I think this passes the sniff taste based on my experience with their meal plans. The packaging definitely seems minimal compared to other meal delivery services and how they handle pre-portioned ingredients. I have yet to deal with spoiled ingredients with an EveryPlate delivery.
For better and — when you enjoy an especially excellent option from the weekly menu — for worse, EveryPlate includes just enough ingredients for the number of servings you ordered.
No waste, but unfortunately no leftovers or second helpings, either! To be fair, this is true of basically all budget meal kits.
EveryPlate Promo Code and Ongoing Promotions
Use my Everyplate link to get free meals as a new customer — note that I will also receive a credit when you sign up.
Hey, it’s only fair, I gave you some good advice. 😉
But even after you’ve made use of the initial discount code, stay tuned for additional deals. EveryPlate runs specials for returning customers on a fairly regular basis that they send out via email or snail mail.
By timing my use of EveryPlate’s affordable meal kit services with their regular promotions, I’m not sure I’ve ever paid full price when making the week’s selection of meals.
The EveryPlate Meals I’ve Cooked (and How They Turned Out)
EveryPlate is a great meal delivery kit for those who like to cook but want to save themselves from the mental load of meal planning new dishes, shopping for ingredients, and portioning things out to minimize food waste.
Here are my favorite recipes I’ve ordered and a few tasting notes (featuring pictures of actual EveryPlate meals I’ve cooked):

- Israeli couscous is such a great soup ingredient as a general note. I’ve remade their chicken sausage and tomato soup a number of times. Soup = comfort food.

- EveryPlate really shines when it comes to unique takes on homemade meals, such as with their Philly-style sloppy joes.
- If you’re like me and love healthy Mediterranean dishes, you’ll appreciate that they typically have at least one of these options for each menu week. It’s helped me with cooking satisfying meals that are just as good without meat.

- The crispy buffalo ranch chicken is so simple but so flavorful — it’s another common remake recipe for me.
- One of my favorite aspects of trying a new EveryPlate meal and its ingredient sourcing is its unique spice mixes (like a Tunisian spice I tried).
- EveryPlate is also one of my favorite sources of inspiration for making rice bowls.

EveryPlate Meal Options and Customization
In addition to having a variety of meal options, there are also a variety of ingredient options, (depending on the meal).
To determine which meals are customizable, look for the “Customizeable Meals” tag:

Here’s an example of customization options for the chicken sausage stuffed pepper soup:

Note that some substitutions are treated as premium add-on foods and are charged an additional cost. Some substitutions are included with the base cost and involve switching out meats and veggies.
Are the Meals Easy to Make?
EveryPlate meals are designed for somewhat average tastes and experience in the kitchen and I mean that as a good thing.
If you can follow a basic recipe and have basic cooking experience, you can make the average EveryPlate meal. The average combined estimated prep time and cook time is about 30 minutes. If you struggle to follow along with instructions, you won’t enjoy the cooking process that comes hand-in-hand with a meal kit subscription.
For the record — I consider myself to be an experienced cook (at least in the context of my own non-commercial kitchen!) and think that it’s useful and interesting for novice cooks up to higher skill levels.
EveryPlate offers easy-to-follow recipe cards with helpful visuals demonstrating each step. If I had one criticism, it’s that I’d love to see them include simple cooking videos to accompany the four-step recipes printouts.
I’ll admit that I’m not always up for cooking with strict instructions (including having to use specific ingredients). It can feel a bit frustrating and restrictive if you cook by taste.
I definitely don’t use meal kits all the time. But I enjoy the process when I do because it’s different than my norm.
What Makes EveryPlate Different Compared to Other Meal Kits?
At-a-glance, here are some of EveryPlate’s best features compared to premium meals competitors like Marley Spoon and Sunbasket:
- Affordable and cost-effective per serving
- Reasonable cooking times for putting favorite dishes on the table, fast
- Variety of satisfying meal offerings and the opportunity to try favorites again
- Novel takes on classic homemade recipes
- Learn about new techniques and ingredients to improve your cooking in general
EveryPlate Review: Is EveryPlate worth it and would I order Every Plate Again?
My honest verdict and meal kit review?
Yes, yes, one thousand times yes!
I’ve used EveryPlate for years, and it consistently delivers on the qualities that set it apart from other meal kits. I’ve always had a positive experience with their simple recipes.
Does this mean I’m only loyal to EveryPlate? Definitely not — I like to experiment with all sorts of different meal kits and dinner ideas. But I know it’s a solid option when I’m looking to create efficiencies while also trying something new with my home-cooked meals.
If I’m looking for more adventurous cuisine, that’s when I’ll consider a more expensive meal kit delivery option.
EveryPlate is flexible enough to offer tasty recipes with simple steps that address a wide variety of dietary preferences on a tight budget and satisfy most personal preferences. They also offer premium recipes in terms of add-on options for those wanting to take it a step up.
Use my EveryPlate link and add some variety to the types of meals you serve at family dinner!
